Personal & Social Development
This is a very important part of the pre-school, we aim to give the children opportunities, experiences and the support they need to develop a positive self image, confidence and also to develop an enthusiasm for learning and an ability to play co-operatively with others and to gain friendships.
Our activities will include opportunities for the children to play alone, alongside others, in small groups and in a large group.
Children will be given opportunities to select their own activities and to develop their own interests. They will be encouraged to concentrate and to persevere until the activity has been completed. They will also be encouraged to try new activities and will have their efforts praised.
They will be encouraged to take turns and to share fairly and gain an awareness of what is right and what is wrong and how to treat property and others with care and respect. Independence in dressing and seeing to their own needs is encouraged.
We promote positive images of those less fortunate and those of other cultures and beliefs.
Each child is treated as an individual and the settling in process for each child will be different. Parents/carers are very welcome to stay to help their child to settle in. Comfort items ie a blanket, favourite toy to help in the settling in process are welcome.
